First Union’s (Charlotte, NC; $134 billion; 2.6 million ATM cards) previously announced (OBR 11/96, p.18) CyberCoin Wallets from CyberCash are now available on its Web <www.firstunion.com>. National Bank of Canada, <www.nbc.ca/securnat/> is the only other financial institution currently offering the wallets. First Union also added a so-called CyberCoin MiniMall to its existing Community Commerce center <www.firstunion.com/2community/cybercoin/minimall.html>. The CyberCoin Wallet is designed for smaller purchases, $0.25 to $10. It works on a stored-value model. Users can transfer value into the wallet from any (even non-First Union) checking account or credit card for use at any of 15 CyberCoin-enabled merchants on the Web.
