Community Bankshares Launches Redesigned Website

By Jim Bruene on March 17, 1997 2:53 PM | Comments (0)

Community Bankshares (Concord, NH; $550 million) has redesigned its Web site at <www.cbnh.com>. The site features bright colors nicely spaced within lots of white space. Animation and JavaScript highlight product specials. I could do without the frames, but they seem to work better than most.

Financial calculators are well-designed and lightening fast using applet technology. On the loan calculator above, users enter data into any three of four fields and the applet instantly returns the missing value. Unlike your HP calculator, there is space to enter up to three different loans so you can easily compare different loans.

The mortgage calculator is also well designed. It includes two sections. The first calculates monthly payments under various scenarios. It includes after-tax and present value calculations presented in such a way as to not be overly intimidating. The second section determines the household income needed to support the desired mortgage using standard 28/35 underwriting guidelines. The bank might want to consider contracting with SmartCalc to provide some additional “advanced” calculators.
