Ameritrade Holding Corporation (Omaha, NE) flip-flopped on the opening date of its new financial hub, OnMoney.com. In an Oct. 22 announcement, the company said the new hub is scheduled to begin testing in October. Then in a conference call with investors a week later, CEO Joe Ricketts said the hub wouldn’t be opening until late winter or early spring (1999). One thing is for sure: it is smart enough to register 83 permutations of the “on” trademark, from banking terms such as onbills.com and oncreditcards.com, to investing terms such as onassets.com and onstocks.com. The company even registered onfun.com and onlove.com — we can’t wait to see what comes up under those domain names. We would have given them an ontheball.com rating, but the domain name was registered by someone else in March.
