By chance we visited Legacy Bank’s (Plano, TX; $670 million) home page www.legacytexas.com after reading comments from the bank’s CEO in an American Banker article. We were very impressed with the design and navigation of the home page. In particular, three techniques caught our eye:
- Upper left: Online Banking in Three Easy Steps immediately addresses user concerns over the time commitment to get started
- Lower left: The Quick Hits menu helps you find important info. fast; and the search box allows you to find things not listed
- Lower right: The Legacy Café offers a password-protected area that anyone can access after registering (no account data involved); this provides an easy way to capture user info. without a full online banking application.
