The Java Mortgage Scenario Player at Homeowners, www.homeowners.com/mortcalc.html

HomeOwers Finance Center (San Francisco, CA) has modernized its look since we last visited. The company pioneered free email rate updates, publishing its first installment in June 1994. The site now features one of the better mortgage calculators on the Net. With the Java Mortgage Scenario Player users “pull” the on-screen bars to their desired rate, loan term, and loan amount. Results are instantaneously displayed in a box in the bottom half of the screen (see above). It’s similar to Microsoft’s CarPoint calculator. The Java calculator was developed by Karl Jeacle www.jeacle.ie and you can buy the applet directly from him for US$100. Check his Web for licensing details or email karl@jeacle.com . The applet can be set to show amounts in dollars or pounds. It supports US/Europe or Canadian amortization schedules.

Contact: Dick Lepre is Founder, (415) 241-1421.
