The New Breed of Online Competition: Home Equity Specialists

RPC Capital’s Equity Buster.

RPC Capital’s Web site is a preview of the aggressive lending competition you’ll face online. The company doesn’t beat around the bush. The box on the first page says “borrow up to $80,000…no equity required.” Hence the EquityBuster theme. The entire Web site is about five pages and probably cost less than the first year’s interest margin on one loan.

RPC apparently loans up to 125% of the property value (LTV) with a maximum debt ratio of 50% (monthly loan payments can’t be higher than 50% of monthly income). Though we’re not particularly enamored with RPC’s “in your face” approach, its “selling proposition” is a whole lot easier to understand than the vague lending brochures posted at many financial institutions.
